Crispy Parmesan Crusted Green Beans
Can you guys believe it’s already almost February? 2018 is flying by and I really wish I could slow down time! We’re trying to get in shape for future vacations and for the summer – but we somehow flew through January. We’ve been sticking to our diet and working hard, though.
Come February 1st, our blog will have been up and running for four months. I wanted to take the time to thank you all for supporting us and reading about our cooking journey. Without further adieu, let’s get started on this new recipe.
The other day, I got the undeniable craving for TGI Friday’s fried green beans. They’re so crispy and just the thought of them makes my mouth water. Now that we’ve decided to stick to a healthier lifestyle, fried green beans aren’t an option. But luckily, with some creativity and patience in the kitchen, I can have a crispy “oven fried” green bean that satisfies the craving.
This side dish goes great with a lettuce wrapped burger or a pork tenderloin. You can find a recipe for our parmesan crusted pork tenderloin here. It’s full of flavor and makes an AMAZING main dish.
Crispy Parmesan Crusted Green Beans
These green beans will satisfy your craving for deep fried vegetables without any of the guilt. They're low carb, healthy, and delicious!
Ingredients
- 1/2 lb fresh green beans
- 1 egg white
- 1 tbsp whipping cream
- 1/2 cup parmesan cheese
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- salt and pepper to taste
- 1 tsp parsley flakes
Instructions
-
Begin by washing the green beans and snapping off the ends.
-
Preheat the oven to 425 degrees.
-
Begin boiling a small pot of water. When it comes to a boil, boil the green beans for about six minutes. They should be about half way cooked, and they will cook the rest of the way in the oven. Drain the water and pat the beans dry.
-
Mix together the egg white and whipping cream in a small bowl.
-
In another bowl, mix together the Parmesan cheese, garlic powder, and parsley.
-
Dip each green bean into the egg mixture, and then toss it in the parmesan mixture.
-
Place the parmesan covered green beans on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
-
Put them in the oven for 10-15 minutes, or until the parmesan is light brown and crispy.
You are AMAZING! Thank you thank you thank you so much for this. I was considering doing the same thing and you’ve just made the task a lot less daunting.
I have stuffed chicken breast before, with feta cheese and arugula or something like this. And my Family was indeed impressed 😉 The Caprese combo sounds pretty amazing!
