2 Ingredient Bagels

In our home, we like easy. Especially for breakfast. But we also like fresh and made from scratch – and admittedly, those two things don’t usually go hand in hand. Luckily, these 2 ingredient bagels are easy AND made from scratch.

We’ve also been trying to cut calories in our home. We’re *supposed* to get married in August (hello, COVID!) and are hoping to be in good shape for the wedding. We have cut out one of our favorite breads of all time. Bagels. They’re unfortunately usually pretty high in calories and just not very diet-friendly.

2 ingredient bagels

I FINALLY found a recipe that gives me the same satisfaction of eating a warm bagel, without all of the guilt. And it’s SO easy!

Enter the 2 ingredient bagel, ya’ll. These bagels don’t taste exactly the same, but I promise that they’re just as satisfying. They have just two ingredients – Plain Greek Yogurt and self-rising flour. They taste a little like dense sourdough bread. They’re perfect for breakfast sandwiches or to just spread your favorite cream cheese, jam, or butter on.

Let’s get started!

2 Ingredient Bagels

These two ingredient bagels are fool proof and so much healthier than a traditional bagel!

Course Breakfast
Prep Time 10 minutes
Cook Time 18 minutes
Servings 3

Ingredients

  • 1 cup plain greek yogurt
  • 1 cup self-rising flour
  • 1 egg whisked, optional
  • seasoning like salt, garlic, onion, etc for top of bagel

Instructions

  1. Begin by mixing the greek yogurt into the flour. It will be crumbly at first, but as you continue stirring, it will form a dough.

  2. Flour your hands, and form a ball of the dough. Roll it out into a coil and loop it into the shape of a bagel. Place each raw bagel onto parchment paper on a cookie sheet.

  3. Use a brush to brush on the egg wash.

  4. Add desired seasonings. We used sesame seeds and sea salt!

  5. Bake at 375 for 20-25 minutes, rotating the sheet half way through.

  6. Enjoy!
